Years ago when my first song was made, I worked at a Club called “America.” Miles Berger, now the chief officer of Berger Associations owned "Club America" as well as the infamous “Club Zanzibar” right down Broad Street at the Lincoln Motel. My song sounded fine at America, but nothing in comparison to the Zanzibar, which I have Tony Humphries to thank for. This Infamous sound installer, Mr. Richard Long not only made the most amazing system, but this system nearly mastered every song played in its environment. I was under the impression that all the amazing work I did in the studio was my actual doing. Yet something was happening to our culture with these sound systems.

People would hear the newest demo played by us, Studio 54, Larry Levan at the Paradise Garage, running to the record shops looking for that exact Demo. The stores had all the released music; but as for the demos, most of the time they didn’t have the song; and when they did, the song sounded half-finished. They would play the song in the store and say “Hey, that’s not the version I heard in the Club last night.” But of course, many of the jocks who were up-on the current demos (that made it to the record store) could vouch for the song and confirm that it "actually was" the right version. But why did it sound half missing? Answer. Because the other half was Richard Long. Even my own half-produced, under-mastered records came to life. This was by far one of the major equations of my musical success and I didn’t even know it.

This Album is dedicated to the team at GLA & RLA and all they have accomplished in producing a theoretical formula for filling the biggest room with mesmerizing sound. Regardless of how old this formula is, it has shaped Disco into Club, Club into House, House into Deep, Deep into Techno, Techno into Electronic, and so on. Richard Long didn't just give us great sound; he changed the way records are made.
